Wrapping Up Melbourne

Our last day in Melbourne, we spent time trekking around the Royal Botanic Gardens (RBG), which is supposed to be one of the world's finest botanic gardens. The place covered 38 hectares (94 acres), and is home to 50,000 trees and plants. According to their web site, "Since 1995 the Royal Botanic Gardens has led the way in water conservation for large landscapes." Sheepman should check this place out for ideas of how to spruce up the District's sad little drought tolerant garden.

We also visited the war memorial located within the gardens, the Shrine of Remembrance. (We had to walk up a hill in order to get to the Shrine, and by the end of the Melbourne part of our trip, my heels were killing me from overuse, hence the face.)

After finishing up at the gardens, there was one last thing I wanted to see in Melbourne.
