Sydney Accommodations: Hilton

We took a quick, one-hour flight to Sydney, and arrived right around 6:00 in the evening, after dark. After emerging from the train station a little discombobulated, we looked around for the Hilton, which is where we were staying for the entire Sydney portion of our trip. We didn't see it anywhere, but we knew it had to be somewhere on that street. We wandered about halfway down the block, then asked the old Asian man at the sidewalk newsstand, "Can you tell me where the Hilton is?" He repeated, "Heel-tun?" then gave us this big grin and pointed at the tall building about two blocks behind us that had "HILTON" written at the top of it in bright, dark blue lighted letters. Right, duh.

Our room was nice, but it was a serious letdown after our fabulous stay at Fountain Terrace. The service and staff seemed fine at the beginning, but, as I said to Shweetie at the end of our trip, it felt like the hotel had been bought out mid-way through our six-day stay there, and that the old staff hadn't properly trained the new staff. I was kind of annoyed by the end of that week. Ironically, while we were checking out, the manager was walking around amidst the people in line, and asking, "How was your stay?" When he got to me, I answered honestly: "It was...OK." He responded enthusiastically, "Good! Excellent!" Dude, you're not hearing me.
