Dinner at Le Pelican

Shweetie had made a bunch of dinner reservations in Sydney prior to leaving for Australia, but he'd had a hard time determining whether the places he'd picked would really be places we would like. After finishing our meal at Oscillate Wildly, we asked our waiter what places he recommended, and we told him where we were planning to eat for the remainder of our stay. He enthusiastically recommended a few places, writing down five of his favorites and describing each place in detail to us. He also let us know which of our reservations we should keep and which of the places we'd picked were overhyped. He seemed to really understand what we were looking for, so we went with all of his choices.

The following night, we tried one of his recommendations, Le Pelican. The service was really friendly and the food was pretty good. We've learned to always ask our servers for recommendations on what to order, and so our waitress suggested the risotto with pancetta. Shweetie and I ordered it as a starter, even though, had she not mentioned the dish, it never would have occurred to us to give it a shot. We were really glad we did, though, because it ended up being our favorite dish there! All of our other dishes were solid choices as well, but the risotto was really excellent.
