Singapore Eats and Drinks

There are only a few famous Singaporean food staples, like chili crab and chicken rice, but we enjoyed eating the other ethnic delicacies while there. Food in Singapore consists of an awesome mix of Chinese, Malay, and Indian cuisines, to name a few, and Singapore is well-known for its endless food options at its hawker centers. We would need several decades to fully exhaust all the available choices. The best thing about Singapore is how clean the place is, so I didn't have to worry here about food poisoning, like I did in Bali. Even better, every food establishment is required to have its cleanliness rating (A through C, with A being the best) posted, just like they do in LA. Shweetie had many flashbacks to childhood while we ate our way through Singapore.

We visited quite a few hawker centres, including Old Airport Food Centre, to have the quintessential Singapore food experience

Fried Kway Teow from Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teow at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre

Hainanese Chicken Rice from Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice, which was made famous by Anthony Bourdain, at Maxwell Road Food Centre

Sliced Fish Bee Hoon at Jin Hua at Maxwell Road Food Centre

Shweetie had to cook his own food at this place at the Maxwell Road Food Centre, but he said the tasty fried dough was more than worth it!

We also enjoyed some tasty Indian pulled tea out of a bag at the Maxwell Road Food Centre

Sesame Ah Balling Peanut Soup at (creatively named) Ah Balling Peanut Soup in Chinatown, which was so good, we went to this place twice in one day and again a couple days later

Takoyaki Octopus Balls from ION Orchard food court

Fish cake from ION Orchard food court, which we ate even after I dropped it on the floor

Chili Crab from Jumbo Seafood Restaurant at The Riverwalk
